Abstract

In this study, a numerical model of a quadcopter was developed and the changes in the performance of the quadcopter according to the changes in propeller dimensions were examined. Propellers with dimensions between 11 inches and 20 inches are separately integrated into the quadcopter with a total weight of 6 kg and a payload of 2 kg, and the battery's SOC, current value (A), voltage value (V) and power (P) data are collected. The position and control movements of the quadcopter were analyzed. As a result of the numerical analysis, it was concluded that the quadcopter is efficient for 15- and 16-inch propellers. In addition, by examining specification of the electric motor integrated into the quadcopter, it has been shown that the recommended propeller dimensions for the electric motor are compatible with the propeller dimensions optimized as a result of numerical analysis. It is known that tests carried out by creating prototypes, especially in the aviation field, cause high costs, and for this reason, studies carried out with numerical modeling have gained importance recently. Digital twin is state of the art of these studies, and studies on it are continuing and developed to meet this need. This study will contribute to the literature by enabling performance analysis and optimization of the digital twin before integration, without creating a prototype.
